Say what you will about his turnover, but I think Steve Downie was the Flyers best player last night.
Now those of you with access to "yahoo" or "nhl.com" are probably saying "that guy only played 3:46 last night, surely this guy is having a laugh!" I assure you I am not having a laugh. As a matter of fact my cat, Kittens, died yesterday and I'm not finding too much to laugh about these day.
Anyway, when Steve Downie was out on the ice he was making his presence felt. If he wasn't laying out Brooks Orpik behind the net, he was controlling the puck down low. When he wasn't putting the Penguins muppet lesbian superstar on his rear end he was lining up perfectly for a faceoff.
Steve Downie will be in the lineup again this series. He's a little spark plug. He kind of reminds me of a certain Penguins player, except he doesn't like to participate in group sex with his parents over the Thanksgiving break.

Wait... I'm confused. Are you saying he was Pittsburgh's best player? Cause I'm sure every Penguins fan would love to see him in the line-up for game 3. He could probably help us out on our power play... not that we even need him.

Anyone who knows anything about the game of hockey would have to say the best player on the ice for the Flyers was either Hatcher or Richards. There is no way you can say Downie was the top dog. As a checking forward his man goal is to bang in the corners, NOT TURN THE PUCK OVER, and generally be a pest. Blue line turnovers (attacking and defensive zones) for a 4 line are death especially with talented forwards on the ice. Mr. Downie needs to watch some old video of Claude Lemieux, Darren McCarty, Joel Otto, and to an extent Trent Klatt. Those boys know how to get it deep and muck it up to slow down a fast team. I am a big Flyers fan so I hope he can rebound and learn from this so that he can put his name down in the same page as those mentioned above.
Everyone in Pittsburgh thought Downie was the Flyers best player too. We especially loved the assist he had on the game winning goal. Game 3 was almost as good for him. Keep him in the line-up, maybe the refs will give us some of those calls yinz are all talking about.
