Florida Vacation Not Worth It

If it had only been a fishing tournament instead.

Oh the ups and downs, I can hardly take it. 3 wins, Pronger's infallible. 3 loses, why doesn't Chris Pronger keep that puck in on the powerplay or at least really earn a penalty on Dvorak as he speeds past him. I'd have to assume if he were given the chance again he'd plant that famous elbow of his right in Radek's clavicle.

And Daniel Carcillo. I guess the guy just can't fight anymore. Not as in he's no good, but as in the Flyers don't seem to be fans of his when he decisively beats an opponent to the ice. With Carcillo in the box, this time with a friend in Ian Laperriere and a guy serving a slashing penalty in Chris Pronger, the Flyers gave up the early lead. When you're short handed and you have one guy from your top penalty killing unit in the penalty box and the other in the press box these types of things happen, I suppose.

Let's hope Blair Betts gets back as early as they're predicting and we'll just start over from where he left off, and forget this 0-2-1 stretch. Agreed?

Blair Betts not being out there wasn't the problem...

The poor ice for the last 2/3 of each period and the lack of intensity from coach on down were the problems.

We put together a focused first 30 minutes, and probably should have been up 3-0 if not for some pingers...but we still played too loose with a 2-1 lead there...and we just weren't sharp.

I blame Stevens for not getting across the discipline he has been preaching. It starts with our top 9 staying accountable to the system, and sometimes forgoing the rush to play disciplined positional hockey...

I am tired of chasing leads we hold from ahead....no need to keep scoring on teams with our D...we need to lock it down.

Coburn sickens me, btw.

I looked at the schedule after the Olympics...

And did a survey of those teams we will be competing with down the stretch. NJ, NYR, Pitt, Boston, Wash, Carolina....and Boston is the only one of them with 22 after the break...the remainder only have 19 to 21 games...when it comes down to a point or two, or a tally in the W column, cramming those extra 2-3 games into a month are going to tire us, and perhaps cause stress or injury...we got screwed by this schedule.

Who do we blame? Ed for booking the boss and asking the league for a break? The league for assuming that we didn't want to go on the road? I mean in an olympic year, there should be no excuse for 2 5 day breaks back to back in the first month of the year...this compressed schedule is going to be a real problem down the stretch.

so much for positive thinking

I actually thought the Flyers might be a team to beat this year with the way they played the first couple games... but then I was slapped back to reality. I expect they will once again break my heart this year with a frustrating and underachieving campaign and some other team will seemingly put all the pieces together and skate away with the hardware.
Blair Betts is the key

It's a good thing Blair Betts was signed. I don't think I could go through another season like 06-07.

Im glad the inconsistent play is back, i couldnt stand watching this team in the first 2 games, theres nothing i hate more than a full 60 minute effort
