Flyers Game Tonight: ATL

Ok, as I said earlier this week we've been out of pockets for the past couple days. Literally misplaced all our pockets. Which sucks because in our pockets is where we kept the boxscores from the Thrasher's game against Detroit on Wednesday and Carolina yesterday. But I'm going to go ahead and guess that the Thrash went 1 and 1 in those games and are now hanging with that 8th place crowd that's all jammed up around there. But as of Wednesday….

(Wayne's World flashback noises)

The Thrashers have been off to a decent start at 10-7-3. Ilya Kovalchuk missed an amazingly short period of time with a broken bone in his footleg and has come back with a vengeance. He was hungry for more and has since been upgraded to RELENTLESS. There are two big stories with this team besides the Kovalchuk injury:

1 - As of Tuesday, Saint Lawrence University grad Rich Peverly, who was claimed off of WAIVERS was leading the team with 24 points in 20 games. Unbelievable. Dude is fast so watch out.

2 - Maxim Afinogenov must have sold his soul to Miroslav Satan over the off-season. Because after a 28 point season and then a 20 point season he already has 20 points in 20 games with the Thrashers! Crazy shit. It seems that he is a big fan of playing with fellow foreigners Nik Antropov and Slava Kozlov.

This is a very different Thrashers team than we've seen in years. Plus we're going into this one Nitty-less. Recent draft pick Evander Kane is a threat with 12 points in 20 games and second year D man Zach Bogosian has 8 goals in 20 games. These are the up-and-coming Thrashers and their half-filled arena can be intimidating to visiting teams.

Still, this is the kind of game you're supposed to win. Danny Briere will be back in the lineup and looking to pad those stats again.

Enjoy one last Flyers game from the comfort of your parents' couch, tomorrow it's back to real, traffic-filled, diet starting life.

On that note maybe have a turkey sandwich when the puck drops. Extra mayo and salt.
