Flyers Gameday: Atlantic Antic

I haven't been this excited for a game since October. The Flyers are in Pittsburgh tonight to take on not just their rival, but a team playing dominant hockey and ahead of them in the East, in a hostile barn, after playing the night before in Boston. Lavvy sure got thrown right into the fire, eh? After last night's win the Flyers look to keep that good play going when they take on Sid, Geno and the Pens in what is sure to be a great game. Excited for Flyers hockey. Not really the way to describe the end of November and the beginning of December, but that's how fickle this game can be. One game, one good(not great) 60 minute effort can turn the tide, swing the confidence pendulum back to your favor and give you that extra edge you need to win at this level. Best part about it is that we get to see if there were in fact any fruits to the Flyers labor as they play right away.

Hope you're ready for a war Flyers fans. So much talent all over the ice. The next two games will feature 10+ Olympic hopefuls, All-stars, Cup winners and buttsniffin' gorilla dicks (see: Talbot, Rupp, et al) Battles with Pittsburgh always make your blood boil. Seems like the Flyers can never stop Sid, but then again, not many teams can. The problem I see when playing the Penguins is that you have to shut down their secondary scoring. Schlubs like Kennedy, Fedotenko, Dupuis and Cooke always seem to get points...and if they are going to get on the scoresheet, we need our grinders to answer. I'd say next to Danny Breeze, Aaron Asham has been our best forward in the past week. He is flying under Lavvy's system and always works hard. Look for Asham, JVR, and Pyorala to pace the Flyers forechecking, and hopefully open up Briere, Richards and Carter for some better matchups.

Aside from John Tavares I haven't heard any player mention Chris Pronger's ability to get under their skin. Tonight, we need #20 to be as shut down as one gigantic man can possibly be. With OKT trying to be Simon Gagne the Flyers will be using Danny Syvret & Oskars Bartulis, two capable, yet green defenders. Pronger, Carle and Kimmo will be asked to do work tonight, and should be ready for the task.

Tonight, I'm excited for the match-ups, the puck battles, the scrums and the yippin'. It's always a barn burner when the Penguins and Flyers meet. Tonight we get to see if the Flyers did indeed 'turn the page' last night, or if that was a flash in the pan.

The igloo will be packed. The Steelers are a losing product, which will cause the parasites to flee from one dying host to the one still breathing. The Penguins don't need any help, and all they'll get is pain. Saint Primeau is on our side for an epic week of hockey. Let's Go Flyers.

Not really a football fan. But as a kid I liked the Bears. 3-2 boohoo to you!

Yeah, I'm quite aware that the score sums it up...that's why I was questioning why you felt the need to say anything in the first place. The only "mouth running" I did was in response to yours. Nice attempt at a comeback though. Valiant effort.

And also, thanks for your permission - I will go root for the Eagles. Did you know it's possible to be both a football fan AND a hockey fan? No, you probably didn't, since you seem to be a Pittsburgh fan. But just to let you know, you can totally follow both sports. Life changing revelation, isn't it? Although if MY team got swept by the Bengals (since, again, I'm just taking a stab and guessing you like Pittsburgh teams), I probably wouldn't want to watch either.

The score sums it up. I don't need to run my mouth, unlike you. Let your team do the talking...they will have their chance Thurs. Now, go root for the Eagles like 95% of the turncoat Flyer fans.

The Flyers may have lost but joke? Far from it. The entire Pittsburgh fanbase is the real joke, and pretty much everyone knows it. Especially you - if the 6-1 score "says it all," then why did you continue to write more? Life will be good again when Penguins fans don't exist - aka in a few years when the team isn't winning championships anymore.
What a joke

The Flyers already hang out with slutty college girls, which is why they play the way the play, too much partying, not enough preparation...These guys are paid millions to play hockey, it's time for them to get their priorities in order...

LOL @ Ryan and Fran. You guys are hilarious.

I'm nervous-excited for tonight's game. I want so badly to believe that last night was the first step to a turnaround. Please let that be the case! Let's go Flyers!

bobrules: Per the NHL's Winter Classic rules; all Flyers will be staying at the sluttiest sorority house on Boston College's campus.

I can't remember the last time I've seen them play a complete game like they did last night.

If they play like tonight, they will win.

Oh yea, I need some insider info. What hotel are the flyers staying at new years eve in boston? I want to party with them. I want to see the patented carter left boob grab.

Something tells me Lavvy is getting the boys up for this one. I bet he let Carbomb have a few rails on the plane this morning and probably let everyone teabag a sleeping Riley Cote to keep everyone loose.

4.5 hours till puck droppin' mayhem.

Yeah, I know there are some key players missing, and I know a few of the guys skating are banged up, but let's suck it up already. I'm battling a bout of the flu myself, but am I making excuses? No! I'm going to be on the couch, slugging beers, even while I hack up a lung. Let's cut the BS and man up.

Maybe they can beat the penguins off in the tunnel. Then the penguins will be all tired.

The team that's been out there for the past month can't beat the penguins. However, if they decide to wake up, defend like their asses are on the line, and start scoring like the team that last year had 6 players with well over 20 goals then we have ourselves a game. Just depends on whether or not last night changed anything..and yea it can be argued that we lost some of those top scorers, but we now have a healthy briere, jvr, and pronger. Time to step it up. Lets get another win.

Love the Saint Primeau line. However, shouldn't he be dead before being canonized?

Sure, you can argue that ECHL is the same thing...

As tough as this is to say for a huge Flyers fan like myself, unfortunately, this team cannot hang with the Penguins this season, I expect a big loss...
