Flyers Show Bolts Their Finishing Move

 Where's Jesus?
Finally! Something different to write about!

Did you all see Peter Laviolette letting Daniel Carcillo listen to his Christmas tie play Jingle Bells (I'm sure) after Simon Gagne's empty net goal ended the game? What a bonding moment between the guys…

In 2007-08 there was a goal that saved our season. Facing the possibility of their eleventh loss in a row the Flyers somehow came out flatter than Topanga in the first season of Boy Meets World against the Buffalo Sabres on a cold Monday night in Buffalo. Somehow 15 minutes into the game it was 3-0 Sabres. The game was over. That is until Jeff Carter got sprung from center ice and went in all alone to beat Ryan Miller with the only break away move he knows - dip over to the back hand. The Flyers eventually won the game in a shootout on goals by Daniel Briere and again Carter. The Flyers finished out the season 12-4-4.

I can't decide who scored what might turn out to be that goal last night in Tampa. Blair Betts' second goal of the game was huge - the game winner. And without that Mike Richards wouldn’t have had his second 2-on-1 in as many shifts because of an increasingly aggressive Tampa Bay defense. But where Betts' goal was the excitement of taking the lead Richards goal was the win. It allowed us all to breath. Gagne's goal got Daniel Carcillo a treat.

If the Flyers, or any hockey team for that matter, is going to win consistently they need to bury teams when given the opportunity. Like has happened to the Flyers so many times in this recent terrible stretch. A one goal lead is too dangerous - a deflection off a shin pad, a tipped shot by your own defender, a player falls and gives up a break away. Richards was presented with an opportunity to win the game shortly after Betts gave the Flyers a lead and he pulled some bullshit practice move and didn't even get a scoring chance. It was great to see that when he got a second chance, as so few do in any capacity in life, he learned from his previous mistake and buried a snapper past Mike Smith for the win. That's what a captain needs to do.

Also, here I am required by my contract to let everyone know that Ms. Goal Scored By believes that Darroll Powe is so fast because he doesn’t have as many teeth weighing him down. When asked about Daniel Carcillo she replied that his mustache probably gets caught up in the wind. Like John Candy's giant pants in the movie Summer Rental.

And that was the end of that.
