Flyers Win a Gross One

Coach Jack almost blocks Guy with a Giant Goatee's view of the Check of the Game

Wouldn't you think that the NHL would be able to put down a decent sheet of ice for 4 hours in Ecuador if they had to? Last night was the sloppiest game I've seen since I was peeping through the windows at that Penn party in September and they were playing spin the tequila bottle. The Flyers definitely faired worse as a result of the shitty ice, which makes me wonder if the ice is always like that in LA and the Kings are used to it or if it's only like that after Lakers games and the Flyers just looked like they were handling it worse.

And what was it all the boardings, fake boardings, and almost boardings? Were the two clubs going tit for tat or was that justhappening in my sleepy mindas well?

Two things I remember from last night's game - bouncing pucks and dudes getting drilled face first into the boards. Glad we don't have to go back to that whore house again for two years.

What we did get as we passed through was two glorious, radical points. Which means we're 7-3 in our last 10 games, officially the third hottest team in the NHL. And we actually beat the hottest team in the NHL so we kind of stole their hottness. That kind of makes us the second hottest team in the NHL behind the Blackhawks, who only have one more point in their last ten games than we do. When you have the same number of wins as the hottest team guess what - you're kind of tied for hottest. Kind of like me and Jimmy Swanson in the senior superlatives.

More im-port-ant-ly. The votes are now flooding in for the Road Trip Points leader. And even after last night not one Braydon Coburn. This is how we currently sit:

Coburn - 2
Richards - 1
Briere - 1
Van Riemsdyk - 1
Carle - 1
Giroux - 1
Pyorala - 1
Hartnell - 1

He does seem to get an enormous amount of shots deflected, like every D-man in the league knows he's going to fire it right away.

One of my ultimate buzz kills while watching a game is watching a shot on a 2 on 2 get deflected over the glass.

You're not fooling anyone Jeff! Get creative! Pull up or something!

I've noticed alot of apathetic play from Carter also. Maybe I'm being too critical and have unreasonable expectations. He is leading the team in points...

I was betting on Carter getting hot on the road. Until someone tells him that he could score a lot more goals if he gets more than 2 feet inside the blueline before he shoots, and its o.k. to skate fast after the puck, and go over by where the other teams goalie is sometimes, I don't see it happening.
