Internet Sentiment Negative Towards Carter

While compiling the nearly 200 submissions we received for people who actually are willing to give their nose to Ian Laperriere, I realized that I had collected some pretty telling data. Flyers fans were expecting big things from Mike Richards and Rabbit on this road trip. Combined, these two garnered over 60% of the vote for who would score the most points on this road trip, Richards taking 34% all on his own. Chris Pronger and Claude Giroux came in at 17% and 15%, respectively, and then the drop off was significant with a number of Flyers receiving a few votes here and there. The one guy who didn't get much attention in this contest, and I can't say it surprises me for some strange reason even though he led the Flyers in points going into the trip, is Jeff Carter.

This is one of the main reasons that I floated the idea of a possible Shea Weber and Steve Sullivan for Carter deal a couple months back - he doesn't really seem to do anything out there even though his stats indicate otherwise. Since opening weekend Carter's only scored goals in 3 games. He went from October 8th to November 2nd without a goal. I understand that the Flyers we're exactly playing every night, but to go almost a month without a goal, after finishing second in the league last year, is pretty strange. And the only goal he's scored in the past 3 weeks was that shorthanded goal mouth scramble in the November 14th loss to the Sabres.

Right now Carter's on pace to hit the 80 point mark, but only 28 of those points would be goals. After scoring 46 last year. If he's as trendy as Bill Meltzer loves to say he is then hopefully we're at the end of a goose egg trend and Carter puts up about 15 goals in the next 10 games.
