Flyers Tattoos on Facebook

Not being on Facebook I'm not sure what it is, except for a place were people stay in touch in case the chance for sex comes up. But I went on to the Flyers Facebook page this morning as I was going through the media section of their website and was pretty impressed with the level of fandom in that house of prostitution.

First of all, 85k fans. Wow, that's amazing. I wonder how many fans aren't in there. Well at least 500k, becasue that's 500k less than read this site on a daily basis. But still not bad - keep it up Flyers Facebook. Secondly, the pictures. There's some pretty good shit on there, including a picture I made that was posted by a Neil Feldbaum. Which I dig. But what I was most impressed with were the tattoos. I'm not really a tattoo person myself, but can understand, and maybe even admire, the devotion you must feel towards something to get one done. If you guys feel that strongly for the Flyers I bet each regular season loss must feel like last night's Phils loss - like sitting on your balls. But in the pictures section there were 5 tattoos, and here's my ranking of them from last (which is still great) to first:

5. This might have been the most painful one to get, but it doesn't exactly look done. What does look done are those two pizzas and the bud light 30 on the floor. That alone almost got this one bumped up to #2.

4. I was really young when Pelle Lindbergh met his unfortunate demise. I'm sure it was sad but I just can't get upset about it. And that ink looks pretty new. I'm having trouble making the connection unless that is Bill Meltzer. In which case, Bill, please put up the scroll tattoo of the entry for Scandinavia from Wikipedia that is on your back.

3. This is a clever, motorcylely, skully, bad ass take on the Flyers symbol. It's creative and cool, but not as creative as…

2. This one doesn’t look as well done as the others but I like the 3 levels of Phillydom going on. Throw a picture of Jesus under there and turn that into a goofy birthday hat for him and you'll be number one in no time.

1. This one is #1 for pure badassness and proximity to your work skin. It's an exact replica of Bill the Butcher's tattoo, I believe. It's dangerous and provocative, and looks like it was made to be the exclamation point on a punch to a Rangers' fans nutty balls.

For those of you who are entering the contest or auction to have Riley Cote do your tattoo, I understand how cool it might seem, but maybe think about how cool it would be to have had Phil Crowe done your tattoo back in the day. Not the kind of thing that seems cool 15 years later. Maybe just have him take you to lunch and watch you get a tattoo. Or get one together. Rumor is those things are 4-life.

Psy09,

Love the fire. Thanks for reading and you're actually not in last. That chick who got Cote's first tattoo is in 307th place.

Top 5!
Number 5 (Psy09)

Hey Ryan,

I actually read your blog everyday, and that's me at Number 5, nice to see the appreciation. For my explanation, yes, it is not done yet, I didn't want to go through the pain at the time to have them fill it in which I might have done in the future. But, when the Flyers win the cup this year, I'm getting the cup done under the tattoo with 2010 next to the cup, and then every year they win (the next 5) will be put under the 2010 going around the cup. GO FLYERS!!!
