A Highlight You'll Be Seeing For Years

You know you want to watch it again:

That goal was more exciting than Sidney Crosby's OT Gold Medal winner. And that's not just because I'm American. Scott Hartnell set the stage only two minutes before, doing for the Flyers that which would usually be unthinkable. And then what the Pronger goal has that Crosby's didn't was anticipation and growing excitement. Crosby ended the game before anyone knew it was even a possibility. With Pronger's goal you had reason to stand up, reason to drop your jaw, and then reason to jump and scream. You could see Pronger start to join the rush when Matt Carle was still behind the net. And with every stride you started to imagine if what you had just pictured in your head could really happen. And then it did. A total eruption.

I had always thought that the Olympic OT goal was pretty boring. I honestly had wished it would have been a two-on-one, breakaway, or long goal mouth scramble. I just hadn't seen a post-Olympic goal to compare it to until today. The fact that it was the Flyers who scored it is a little bit of a happy surprise.

Awesome stuff... two nit-picky observations:

1) Gagne, I love you, but you're making me nuts. Shoot it! You're awesome at it, whereas Carle and Coburn (both of whom I've seen you pass to this week when you were already right in front of the net) are not exactly paid to be snipers. You get a free pass because you're scoring more than anybody else lately, but you could be super-awesome instead of just awesome.

2) I appreciate Hartnell working like a madman yesterday, and I'm happy for him that it eventually paid off. On the other hand, why does it require getting replaced by the new guy to motivate a professional athlete? Scott was a puck-hogging wild man yesterday!
