Last night in Chicago newly named Team USA forward David Backes and Canadian winger Jonathan Toews dropped the gloves and settled things the old fashioned way in a game that eventually turned out to be a blow out for the Hawks.
Neither player is a regular in the fighting section of the restaurant so I have to wonder (only because I desperately wish it was) if this was the first signs of animosity between the US and Canadian Olympic teams. Probably wasn't, but would cool if it was.
The U-20 men take on Sweden tonight at 9PM after a shaky win over Finland last night where they were outshot almost 2-to-1. The winner of tonight's game faces either Canada or Sbisaless Switzerland for the Gold on Tuesday night.
Funny story about that Canada - Switzerland game today is that Nazem Kadri's going to get a second chance to decapitate Nino Niederreiter, which I suppose he's happy about. In an unbelievable sequence of individual heroism Nino the Nor' Easter scored a goal to tie the game with 33 seconds left and then the winner 9:46 into OT.
I have to imagine if he didn't have a head none of that would have happened.
I feel like today is the last day of spring break or something. Flyers, Eagles, Team USA, and the night sweats about work.
